You can remove the TBD from Mark Hominick’s opponent’s name for Affliction Trilogy August 1st. MMATraining.com can confirm that Hominick has his opponent lined up for the Affliction Event August 1st in Anaheim.
He will be taking on IFL veteran Deividas Taurosevicius in a great 145 lbs match up. Taurosevicius is 10-3 in his pro career and has wins over Dan Lauzon, Savant Young and Bart Palaszewski. The native of Lithuania has losses to Ryan Shultz and Frankie Edgar. Taurosevicius is a natural 155 lbs fighter and will be making the drop to face the ever dangerous Hominick.

The biggest card over the weekend was “Ultimate Chaos”held in Biloxi, Mississippi featuring a main event between Bob Sapp and Bobby Lashley. While the main event was less than thrilling, the remaining fights on the card exceeded expectations and we saw the evolution of a few fighters and a T-shirt guy.
1. Chris Horodecki is back
Horodecki has been out of the MMA cage for over a year. His only fight in the last 12 months was a decision loss to Hiroki Shishido at Shoot Boxing S-Cup tournament in Japan. (His full blog on that even can be found HERE) Cage rust wasn’t an issue for the young Canadian member of the MMATraining.com team. Horodecki looked sharp on the feet and brought William Sriyapai quickly to the mat after a minute. Horodecki use his always evolving ground game to put an end to Sripapai’s night at 4:02 in round 1. It was an impressive performance to move the 21 year old to 13-1 as a pro and he will look to build on that August 1 at Affliction 3 as he faces another impressive young fighter, Dan Lauzon.
With victories in The Ultimate Fighter Season 9 finale, Ross Pearson and James Wilks are most assuredly bound for title fights and UFC greatness, right? Well, if you look at the recent history of TUF winners you would likely conclude otherwise. In fact, there’s a nasty trend that has developed and these two fighters from the UK will be focused on bringing it to an end.
Consider this. The first four seasons of TUF produced eight winners. Of them, three have won championship belts since their win on TUF (Forrest Griffin, Rashad Evans and Matt Serra), one has fought for a championship (Joe Stevenson) and one has blown a weigh in that would have been for a championship fight (the bonehead award goes to Travis Lutter, who might still be in the sauna). Training for the sport of MMA arguably involves one of the most intense and rigorous training regimens in all of sports. Hitting the mats several times per week, even multiple times per day, combined with strength training and cardio and conditioning work means full rest days are few. Without a proper recovery strategy, one can quickly become overtrained, which can lead to a drop in performance level and worse, an increased potential for injury. Read More

It was another busy weekend in the world of MMA with two big shows on tap with the Strikeforce event on Friday and the Ultimate Fighter Finale on Saturday Night. Both were excellent cards, with the TUF finale being one of the best of the year. Here is how we saw it.
1. Jorge Gurgel is a tough guy to figure out.
Gurgel is a difficult fighter to understand. Not from a technical aspect, but more about his strategy entering fights. Over the years Gurgel has built a reputation as a tough durable combatant and one that loves to stand and bang it out with his opponents - even though he is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt. On the weekend he fought in Strikeforce for the Read More
I couldn’t believe my eyes when it flashed across the screen.
Klitschko vs. Chagaev.
Did they really just say it? Are all my boxing dreams coming true? Klitschko vs. Chagaev I whispered to myself. It’s here. Deep breaths.
I had to do it; I had to check online to see if tickets were available. Venue…venue…where was this legendary matchup being held. Here it is - Gelsenkirchen. Read More
