Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas boxing proved once again that they are not down and out for the count. In one of the most incredible boxing matches of the year Juan Manual Marquez stopped Australian Michael Katsidis in the 9th round in a back and forth fight that referee Kenny Bayless waived off in the 9th after Katsidis ate a large number of unanswered punches.

The fight itself proved exciting, but it was boxing’s ability to deliver a card and main event that even the toughest of boxing critics had to agree lived up to the hype. The UFC has not given up their quest for Mirko Filipovic and in fact are going on the aggressive to bring him back.
