Brazilian behemoth Antonio Silva was one of the numerous fighters who took to the cage this past Saturday night at “Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Kharitonov” and exited with damage requiring an extended amount of time on the sidelines to recover from.
Silva’s status was revealed on the list of post-show medical suspensions compiled by the Ohio Athletic Commission and will apparently be out at least sixty days, if not longer, as the result of his knockout loss to Dan Cormier.

The inaugural event of Bellator’s fifth season took place over the weekend and delivered on a number of levels. Not only were there finishes in all five of the night’s preliminary pairings, streamed live through Spike.com for the first time in promotional history, but all four welterweight tournament tussles were relatively even with one exception – Ben Saunders.
Later tonight in Canada one of the most-hyped prospects in quite some time will take to the cage and start his journey down the path of a professional fighter.

Former UFC heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar will dive back into the divisional pool head-first when he finally makes his way back to the Octagon after more than a year away rather than take a leisurely swim against a relatively beatable opponent. Playing the role of “Great White Shark” will be none other than imposing Dutchman Alistair Overeem.
Long-time UFC fighter Duane Ludwig is looking for justice on a “short time” level and now has a powerful ally in his quest to rightfully be named owner of the organization’s “Fastest Knockout” record after a delay in the clock’s stoppage at UFN 3 when he beat Jonathan Goulet in eleven seconds officially (but closer to 4-5 in actuality based on replay footage).
This fall a legend of the sport will return to the ring with the support of a hometown crowd behind him as he tries to get back on the winning track – Fedor Emelianenko.
According to M-1 Global head Vadim Finkelstein, “The Last Emperor” has agreed to fight in the next few months at an event in Russia. No details were given in the form of a date or opponent.
