The days of “The New York Bad Ass” may be officially over. While Phil Baroni hasn’t expressed his intent to retire, the polarizing 35-year old has certainly struggled more than succeeded as of late in the ring. That point was brought home early this morning for fans tuning in to watch Baroni face Yoshiyuki Yoshida in co-headlining action at newly formed organization ONE FC’s debut event.
For the first time in MMA history, not only will the UFC show up on network television but a UFC title will be defended as well!
The exciting announcement that heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez would put his gold up for grabs against Junior dos Santos came earlier today in a conference call with Dana White where the UFC President equated the opportunity as a chance to re-live Stephan Bonnar vs. Forrest Griffin but on a much larger scale.

Are you one of the thousands of practicing Mixed Martial Artists across the land who has always wanted to train alongside some of the sport’s top names in one of the highest quality training centers out there but can’t afford the expenses or don’t live in the right area? If so, and you weigh at least 185 pounds and know your way around the mat, then American Top Team might be more interested than you think.
Powerful pugilist Paul Daley will waste little time before getting back into the cage after already agreeing to fight Jordan Radev on September 10 under the BAMMA banner. However, rather than dealing with the trappings of a grappler like Radev, “Semtex” should have a chance to let his hands fly a little more than a month later when he heads to Montreal for Ringside 12.
The Ringside promotion recent announced the bout featuring Daley duking it out with American Top Team striker Luigi Fioravanti.

If you’re a fighter, you’ve gone 0-2 in your first two outings inside the UFC, and they’ve both been frustrating decision losses, what do you do next? If you’re Nam Phan, the answer is jump right back in the Octagon, of course.
WEC veteran Phan is hurting right now. After ending up on the bad side of a controversial split-decision loss to Leonard Garcia last December, the 28-year-old is now fresh from another loss. Nam faced former featherweight champion Mike Brown in his last outing earlier this month at UFC 133 where the powerhouse wrestler took down the Vietnamese fighter and controlled him on the ground for the majority of the bout. Now Phan will be making a quick turn around on 7-weeks’ notice in order to take on the always tough Matt Grice, who was originally expected to face Josh Grispi before the former contender bowed out of their bout due to injury.

In an extremely fan-friendly move, the UFC and THQ are allowing the public to pick who will grace the cover of UFC Undisputed 3 when the game drops in January 2012. Past fighters who have been on the cover include former champs Brock Lesnar and Forrest Griffin.
The five options for the upcoming title are Frank Edgar, Georges St. Pierre, Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, and Cain Velasquez – all of whom currently hold titles in the UFC.

Would you believe that Krzysztof Soszynski, 34, is still developing as a mixed martial artist?
After a career that revolved around the famed Team Quest camp, headed by MMA legend and Strikeforce champ Dan Henderson, Soszynski has since relocated himself elsewhere. “The Polish Experiment” now calls both Reign Training Center and Kings MMA home – the two academies have formed an alliance, housing some of the biggest names in the sport including former champions Wanderlei Silva and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, as well as stars like Fabricio Werdum, Jason “Mayhem” Miller, and Mark Munoz among others.
