Anthony Johnson plans to spoil Vitor Belfort’s homecoming

Anthony “Rumble” Johnson knows he will not be hearing many cheers when he enters the HSBC Arena Saturday night in the co-main event of UFC 142: Aldo vs. Mendes.
That’s because Johnson’s opponent is Brazilian Vitor Belfort, one of the top MMA fighters to ever come out of the South American country.
Nevertheless, Johnson isn’t worried one bit about what kind of reaction he gets from the crowd. In fact he is only worried about inflicting as much pain and suffering on “The Phenom” as humanly possible.
“I’m gonna break Vitor. I’m gonna break him,” said Johnson, in a promotional video released by Authentic Sports Management. “I’m not saying this fight is gonna be easy, but you know what? I bet it won’t be harder than what I go through at training.”
“Rumble” constantly is tested by fighters such as Rashad Evans and Melvin Guillard during practice sessions. Evans is a former UFC light heavyweight champion and Guillard is one of the top athletes in the lightweight division.

MMATraining Take: Johnson is a more suitable contender at middleweight than his previous fighting division, welterweight. It allows him to keep more of his muscle mass and doesn’t force a near-inconceivable weight cut before fights. Still, Belfort is a big challenge for “Rumble,” especially in Brazil.
