If Bellator’s middleweights weren’t already wary of Brian Rogers’ ability to end an adversary’s evening in devastating fashion they got a reminder of why they should be at last night’s event. Set as part of the field of 185ers competing in the Season 6 tournament at Bellator 61, Rogers looked sharp from solid start to fantastic finish when the 28-year old left opponent Vitor Vianna in a splayed-out mess thanks to a perfectly-placed knee strike.
After the fight Rogers won over even more fans with his animated assessment of things, mentioning it was the third knee-oriented knockout and if anyone needs evidence they should, “Google it!”
Moving along to the semifinal round with Rogers were newcomers Maiqual Falcao, Vyacheslav Vasilevsky, and Bruno Santos. The trio of middleweights all won by way of Unanimous decision with Bellator veterans Giva Santana and Victor O’Donnell being eliminated as a result.
The final four will face off on April 20 at Bellator 66 where match-ups will be Vasilevsky-Falcao and Rogers-Santos. The card is scheduled to be headlined by a lightweight tilt between highly-touted competitors Shinya Aoki-Eddie Alvarez.
