Ben Rothwell out of UFC on FOX 4 fight against Travis Browne

The UFC has encountered a late speed bump on the approach to next weekend’s UFC on FOX 4 lineup with news surfacing stating heavyweight Ben Rothwell has withdrawn from a main card match-up with Travis Browne due to injury. Though few specifics were given surrounding his condition, the health-related matter appears to be attached to his ankle.

MMAFighting was first the report the story, adding that Devin Cole was being eyed as a replacement though nothing official had been booked thus far.

Rothwell is coming off a knockout win over Brendan Schaub and holds a number of other notable past victories such as those against Krzysztof Soszynski, Ricco Rodriguez, Gilbert Yvel, and Roy Nelson.

UFC on FOX 4 is scheduled for August 4 and features Mauricio Rua-Brandon Vera facing off in headlining action.

MMATraining Take: It’s a shame that Rothwell-Browne is off since Browne has positioned himself nicely in the division and Rothwell would’ve been a good test. It was also a nice match-up for mainstream audiences given the likely knockout involved.
