BJ Penn vs. Diego Sanchez at 105 Confirmed
Posted by MMATraining.com Staff
BJ Penn has officially agreed to face Diego Sanchez at UFC 105 November 14, 2009 in Manchester England. These reports come directly from Dave Meltzer from Yahoo Sports and The Wrestling Observer.
Penn will look to win two in a row after a win at UFC 101 over Kenny Florian.
Sanchez is 2-0 as a lightweight with wins over Joe Stevenson and Clay Guida.
Meltzer also reports that this will be on Spike TV and Not PPV.
This fight will compete directly with Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto which airs live on PPV that night. Time will tell if this strategy will reduce the number of PPV buys for Pacman’s fight since it will be at night on Paid TV and the UFC free during the day.

Tough fight.. I think Diego has a better stand up and is more explosive.
On the ground they are about equal. Great fight.

Diego does not have the better standup and it is nowhere near equal on the ground.

This WILL be a great fight. Very thankful it is not on PPV because I would not pay to watch it unless the fight card was just stacked. My guess on who wins is up in the air.

Diego better standup? What kind of statement is that, BJ has WAY heavier hands, and his boxing will overcome anyone in the lightweight division. And ground, BJ is by far the best ground fighter in the division. He will be champ for a while!
