The UFC debut of Hector Lombard will not come against Brian Stann as originally anticipated after the 12-4 former Marine was removed from UFC on FOX 4 due to an undisclosed injury. Stann-Lombard was set to serve as the main event on the August 4 card.
UFC officials confirmed Stann’s status last night. It is unknown if Lombard will still compete at the event or have his official unveiling postponed.
Stann took to Twitter to comment on the situation where he expressed severe disappointment, adding, “Meant the world to headline a UFC.”
The 31-year old “All-American” has come out with his hand raised in four of his five fights since dropping down to 185 pounds with the lone exception involving Chael Sonnen. Among his wins at middleweight are those over Jorge Santiago, Chris Leben, and most recently Alessio Sakara.

MMATraining Take: Hopefully Lombard will still fight on the card though there aren’t too many overwhelmingly awesome options out there at the moment. Personally, I’d pair him with a relative can who enjoys striking to give fans a sensational stoppage and allow Lombard to make a great first impression.
