Perhaps it was the spirit of July 4th in the air but UFC middleweight Brian Stann (12-4), also a decorated military veteran, has apparently set his sights on a scrap with British star Michael Bisping (22-4). Both men are currently recovering from recent injury issues and expected to be back around the same time this fall.
Specifically, Stann wants to fight Bisping at UFC 152 in Toronto. The event is scheduled for September 22.
“I always want to fight guys that are ranked ahead of me, and right now, that’s where Bisping is. He’s very close to a title shot,” said Stann in a conversation with MMAJunkie. “Now’s my time. I’m not getting any younger. I want to fight for the title, and right now, to get to that title, Bisping is one of the guys you have to get through.”
Bisping has also pointed the finger at Stann as a likely opponent making the likelihood of the two tussling even more likely.

MMATraining Take: Stann-Bisping makes a ton of sense, though I’m not sure why they wouldn’t let it headline the September 29 show in Nottingham. Sure, Stefan Struve-Stipe Miocic has already been named as the main event, but that fight hasn’t garnered any real excitement and having Stann-Bisping battle it out in front of English fans would be a much bigger deal than a Canadian crowd.
