Brock Lesnar: “I feel great…healthy, strong – I feel like I used to feel.”

While the MMA world’s focus might currently be on the UFC’s deal with Fox another nice nugget of information was unveiled earlier today when a video featuring former heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar showed up on YouTube courtesy of a sponsor where he proclaimed he is feeling “like a new man” again and expects to return to the Octagon soon.

“What’s new in the life of Brock Lesnar? Well, recently I went under the knife and I had surgery for my diverticulitis. I feel like a new man. I feel great…healthy, strong – I feel like I used to feel,” he revealed. “My health is 100%.”

Lesnar hasn’t fought since losing his title to Cain Velasquez in October 2010. Though he was scheduled to face Junior dos Santos at UFC 131 in June in hopes of earning a second shot at the belt, the 34-year old grappler was forced to withdraw when his diverticulitis returned. He underwent surgery earlier this year and had nearly a foot-long piece of his colon removed as a result.

A decorated amateur wrestler, Lesnar is 5-2 in MMA with wins over Randy Couture, Shane Carwin, and Frank Mir. No specific timetable or date were given for his actual return to competition but today’s announcement certainly lent hope to the possibility of it occurring sooner than later.
