Brock Lesnar ready to re-claim spot atop the heavyweight mountain
Posted by Dan Becks
Former UFC heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar has had an interesting career in the UFC already. Along with holding the belt and spot as the top man in the biggest division, Lesnar has been forced to battle through a pair of devastating injuries that kept him sidelined for many months.
Lesnar will return to action in December when he meets former Strikeforce title-holder Alistair Overeem in the main event at UFC 141. The winner of the bout will be the new #1 contender for the UFC heavyweight belt.
The former WWE superstar has recovered twice from bouts with diverticulitis, a medical condition affecting his body to the point he underwent serious surgery. Lesnar is also coming back from his first loss via TKO, a beatdown handed to him by current heavyweight king Cain Velasquez.
“I’m approaching this fight hungrier than I’ve ever been. The things that I’ve accomplished, with the sickness that I had is very remarkable,” said Lesnar, in a recent interview with Paul Heyman while promoting the newest WWE video game WWE 12. “I think now that I’m a healthy Brock Lesnar again, it’s bad for a lot of people.”
