Two of MMA’s superb smack-talkers have taken aim at each other recently in the form of a developing feud between UFC fighters Chael Sonnen and Quinton Jackson. Though in different divisions, and with “Rampage” likely headed out of the organization after his October bout against Glover Teixeira, the pair of pugilists weren’t shy in addressing the other during recent conversations with the media.
Things kicked off over the weekend when an interview with Jackson surfaced where he addressed Sonnen’s losing performance at UFC 148 against Anderson Silva. Needless to say his words were far from kind.
“I think Chael should keep his word and leave the UFC because that’s what he said he was gonna do if he lost,” said Jackson in an interview with MMA Elite. “And he lost horribly. Bad! Chael sucks. He should go somewhere where people like his interviews, the way he talks (expletive) to everybody. I can’t stand that boy. F*ck Chael.”
Sonnen wasted no time in firing back, though doing so on a far bigger platform in this week’s episode of UFC Tonight.
“Hey, Rampage, why don’t you stick to violating female reporters, making box office disasters, and driving the wrong way down the freeway while you’re jacked up on Mountain Dew because you, ‘Page, are not on my level.’”
Rather than pointing to performance Sonnen decided to take a personal route, offering criticism directed at Jackson’s arrest in 2008 for an energy drink-fueled “rampage” on a California roadway in addition to his actions towards members of the Japanese and America press.

MMATraining Take: It’s a shame these two probably won’t fight let alone face off as coaches on TUF because the inherent entertainment value in their rivalry is sky-high in terms of potential.
