Chael Sonnen implies he will fight winner of Jason Miller vs. Michael Bisping

Keyboards everywhere came to a screeching halt today when outspoken UFC middleweight Chael Sonnen addressed his immediate future and it didn’t involve rival Anderson Silva or a match-up with Mark Munoz as had been rumored. Rather, Sonnen appears poised to face the winner of this weekend’s TUF 14 Finale main event between Michael Bisping and Jason “Mayhem” Miller.
The comments in question came in a brief conversation between Sonnen and FightHubTV where the colorful competitor stated, “My next fight will be based on, I don’t know how much I can say, but I’ll be watching the TV Saturday night, put it that way.”
Unless Sonnen is planning to drop thirty or more pounds (obviously not happening), there is little doubt the 34-year old was referring to Bisping/Miller given their status as divisional contenders as well as past comments each has made regarding an interest in facing him.
No reason was given for his change of heart though the implication seemed to be he’d heard from his superiors on the matter. Silva is believed to be out until June while recovering from a shoulder injury while Sonnen and Munoz are relatively friendly outside of the Octagon.
Sonnen’s last showing came in October where he stopped Brian Stann in the second round of their fight at UFC 136. He holds an overall record of 26-11-1 with past wins over Nate Marquardt, Dan Miller, and Yushin Okami.

MMATraining Take: Sonnen vs. Miller/Bisping makes sense to me since the bout would be highly marketable based on the personalities involved and would easily serve as determining a #1 contender if Bisping is involved. Consider me intrigued.
