“Cowboy” Cerrone saddles up for May match with Yves Edwards
Posted by Dan Becks
Donald Cerrone will return to action in May as “Cowboy” has signed to face Yves Edwards at UFC on Fuel 3, a show set to take place May 15 from Fairfax, Virginia. The show, previously labeled as a UFC on FX event, will also feature Thiago Silva-Igor Pokrajac and Tom Lawlor-Jason MacDonald.
Cerrone (17-4) had a win streak snapped at the hands of Nate Diaz in the co-main event of UFC 141 last December. Prior to that, Cerrone had worked his way into contention for the UFC lightweight title by winning six in a row including success against Charles Oliveira and Dennis Siver.
Edwards (41-18-1) is one of the most experienced fighters in the UFC but is also coming off a loss, his to Tony Ferguson. Edwards is 4-2 in his last six Octagon appearances.

MMATraining Take: This should be a good match for Cerrone to get back on track, as Edwards is not afraid to stand and trade, and will be looking for a submission victory; much like Cerrone. Cerrone’s athletic ability could be the difference in this one.
