Dana White says meeting with Brock Lesnar “couldn’t have gone worse”

Fans hoping Brock Lesnar would be making his return to the Octagon sometime soon after a meeting with Dana White in May shouldn’t hold their breath, as it appears the closed-door proceedings went as poorly as possible. While no specifics have emerged from the conversation, White went on record last night after UFC on FX 3 with a statement through Fuel TV’s post-fight show.

“The meeting we had didn’t go really well. It wasn’t a great meeting. It was probably one of the worst meetings we’ve ever had with Brock Lesnar and I honestly haven’t talked to him since,” admitted the UFC President. “In my opinion it couldn’t have gone worse.”

Lesnar’s link to a comeback came at UFC 146 when he contacted White to set up tickets for the all-heavyweight PPV card and discuss a few private matters, potentially including another shot at MMA after his unexpected retirement this past December.

The 5-3 Lesnar held the divisional championship in 2008, defending it twice successfully against Frank Mir and Shane Carwin.

MMATraining Take: Unless Lesnar hit White with his WWE finisher and drove Lorenzo Fertitta through a table I’m not sure how badly things could have gone. Did he want to come back for more money? For an immediate title-shot? While those things would be ridiculous, especially given his recent losses and health issues, they certainly aren’t as terrible as White makes the conversation out to be.
