EliteXC “Return of the King” ends in Chaos

In what is becomming a recurring theme during an EliteXC show, the main event in Saturday nights “Return of the King” was shrouded in controversy. However, this time the Main event had been over for almost 10 minutes! After KJ Noons had put a first minute beating on Yves Edwards to retain his EliteXC lightweight title, challenger Nick Diaz came into the ring to challenge Noons in a rematch. Nick had just finished his own fight about 5 minutes earlier and still had his fight gloves on! It was a site to see. Nick Diaz is no stranger to this type of behavior and it appeared KJ’s father, KJ Senior (who was in the cage post fight) was aware, and decided he would take it upon himself to tell Diaz to shut his mouth.

The all hell almost broke out. A brawl just about began, a lot of middle fingers were thrown and security guards had to hold back the Diaz and Noons clans. Cooler heads finally prevailed. The Diaz group consisted of Nick and younger brother Nate, who is an undefeated UFC lightweight. Diaz and Noons should meet up soon inside the cage, in what will be an entertaining rematch. Noons won their first fight. It’s not clear if EliteXC stagged this little charade, but the timing of the whole incident seemed strange.

If nothing else, EliteXC is proving that they attract contravery wherever they go, whether they like it or not.
