Frank Mir and Antonio Nogueira talk UFC 140 fight on recent Countdown special

Frank Mir took out the legend that was Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira when the two met after coaching on The Ultimate Fighter 8. Mir’s knockout victory over Nogueira at UFC 92 was the first TKO loss of “Minotauro’s” career.
After the fight, Nogueira said he was in the hospital due to a staph infection and was nowhere near 100% when it came to the fight. That hasn’t set well with Mir, who will have a chance to prove his victory once and for all this Saturday night when the two meet in the co-main event of UFC 140.
“That last knockdown, when I caught him, I saw the back of his head hit the canvas,” Mir said during the UFC 140 Countdown special. “I jumped on him (right away) and that was it.”
Nogueira defeated Brendan Schaub earlier this year, helping him stave off retirement talk for the time being. Mir stopped Roy Nelson back in May to improve to 15-5 overall.

MMATraining Take: Mir hasn’t looked all that impressive in his last few fights, though he has found ways to win. Nogueira also struggled until the Schaub bout, so whoever wins will need a strong showing to prove they are still among the list of contenders in the heavyweight division.
