Headliners’ shoving match highlights eventful UFC 137 weigh-ins

Though BJ Penn and Nick Diaz are set to fight tonight in the main event of UFC 137, the two welterweights tussled yesterday afternoon in Las Vegas during the stare-down portion of the weigh-ins. After hitting their marks, Penn inched in close to Diaz only to have the controversial Californian respond by lowering his forehead only to get shoved away in return. Dana White quickly stepped between them to calm things down but needless to say both men will be ready to rumble this evening when the PPV fires up at 9:00 PM EST.

Another interesting moment came when Roy Nelson, who has been chided for his chunkiness by White and others, stepped on the scale with a “fat suit” on and still came in lighter than he did in his previous pairing with Frank Mir.

Finally, Tyson Griffin did the unthinkable and came in overweight for his bout with Bart Palaszewski, measuring in at 148 pounds, and will sacrifice 25% of his money for showing as a result.

Here is a complete list of UFC 137 weights:

Francis Carmont (185 lbs) vs. Chris Camozzi (185 lbs)
Dustin Jacoby (185 lbs) vs. Clifford Starks (186 lbs)
Brandon Vera (205 lbs) vs. Eliot Marshall (204 lbs)

MMATraining Take: As if Penn vs. Diaz wasn’t already awesome enough, they get into it at the weigh-ins?!? Should be a tremendous card tonight (and it’ll be over early enough to still get to that Halloween party you’re no doubt headed to given that it’s Saturday).
