Light heavyweight star Jon Jones has a date lined up for his next fight and it’s not September 1 against Dan Henderson. According to UFC Tonight, the 205-pound champion will head to court on May 29 to address his recent run-in with the law. Jones was arrested this past Saturday morning at approximately 5:00 AM EST after crashing his Bentley into a utility pole and showing signs of intoxication when officers showed up at the scene.
Jones is expected to be offered a plea bargain. If he does not accept it he will go to trial this fall where he will face up to a year in prison and a $1,000 fine.
After dealing with his legal issues Jones will also be facing off against a man who is judge, jury, and executioner in the form of UFC President Dana White. White recently revealed he would be meeting with “Bones” to discuss his future in the organization.
“We’ve got to figure out where Jones is at and what he wants to do,” said White in an interview with the Boston Herald.

MMATraining Take: I’m sure Jones will got off with a slap on the wrist considering his status as a celebrity, his financial standing, and the fact nobody was hurt. I’m also sure White will give Jones a fatherly lecture and then let him go about his business. I’m fine with both so long as there are consequences in place if he ever drives drunk again.
