Canadian fans got a treat today when the UFC announced another one of their own would be competing at UFC 140 when the organization returns to Toronto. Other fighters from the area set for the show include Mark Hominick, Mark Bocek, and Rory MacDonald.
According to the UFC, Ultimate Fighter 8 alumnus (and native of Manitoba) Krzysztof Soszynski will meet Croatian finisher Igor Pokrajac in the cage at the December 10 event.
“The Polish Experiment” holds an overall record of 26-11-1 with 21 finishes (ten TKOs, eleven submissions). The well-rounded Soszynski will be looking for his third straight win after racking up consecutive Unanimous Decision victories over Goran Reljic and Mike Massenzio in his previous two pairings.
Like Soszynski, the 23-8 Pokrajac also has an aptitude for ending action before scorecards come into play with twenty of his wins involving some form of stoppage. Pokrajac was last seen in March at UFC Live 3 picking up a TKO over Todd Brown.
UFC 140 is co-headlined by heavyweight legend Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira’s rematch with former champ Frank Mir and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira taking on iconic 205-pounder Tito Ortiz.

MMATraining Take: It’s always nice when the UFC puts “local” fighters on cards as a means of not only appeasing area fans but also giving friends/family a chance to attend they may not otherwise have were the event somewhere else. Pokrajac vs. Soszynski should be hard-hitting and will almost certainly end before the final seconds tick off of the third round. Without a doubt this is definitely a preliminary fight worth tuning in for!
