MMATraining.com can confirm through sources close to the fighters camp that a planned main event between Kurt Pellegrino and Josh Neer will soon be finalized to take place on a yet to be announced Ultimate Fight Night August 5th, 2009.
Pellegrino, 13-4 is coming off impressive back to back wins over Thiago Tavares and Rob Emerson. He will look to make it three in a row as he works his way into the UFC’s lightweight top 10.
Neer, 25-7 has won 4 of his last 5. His only loss was a decision to Nate Diaz back at UFN 15 September 17th, 2008. Neer’s latest win was an notable win over TUF winner Mac Danzig where he controlled most of the action and finally put Danzig away with a triangle choke.
The UFC has slated this fight to be the main event.

Neer is a beast and has more heart. Neer is easily a top 155 lbr. Neer is at the top of his game and is definetly gonna crush Peligrino.
[...] MMATraining.com also reports that later in the summer, at an as of yet unannounced Fight Night event on August 5, Kurt Pellegrino will face Josh Neer, who recently saved his behind with a victory over Mac Danzig. The fight’s expected to be the main event, though it’s also the only fight we’ve heard of for this thing and with it being so far in the future, who knows. Best to keep Neer out of the bars between now and then. [...]
Kurt and Neer is a good match up, but I would go with Neer on this one. He just has a lot of heart and he is always improving.
Whereas Kurt is up and down up and down.
After how good Neer looked against Danzig I’m saying he walks through Kurt P. You heard that right.
Great match up and both guys can move into the top 12 here with a win.
Great fight here. Really great.
I got Kurt taking this.
