The UFC has confirmed the match-up on their website, meaning Machida-Bader will join Brian Stann-Hector Lombard and Joe Lauzon-Terry Etim at the Los Angeles event.
Machida, a former title-holder, would be the second straight ex-champ for Bader after the Ultimate Fighter winner outpointed Quinton “Rampage” Jackson in his latest bout. “Darth” has also been inside the Octagon with former champ Tito Ortiz and current champ Jon Jones, losing both bouts via submission.
Machida knows what a Jones submission feels like as well with “Bones” choking him out in a standing position in a December bout for the title. “The Dragon” is just 1-3 in his last four fights with the lone win coming over Randy Couture but is 17-3 overall.

MMATraining Take: What another great challenge for Bader. However, what happens if he wins this fight? Who would be next? His performance against Jones wasn’t great, but wins over two ex-champs would have to place him near the front of the line for a title shot, wouldn’t it? Maybe Alexander Gustafsson at the end of the year for Bader with a victory over Machida?
