Martin Kampmann expects “exciting fight” at UFC 139 against Rick Story

Two of the UFC’s most-entertaining welterweights will meet in San Jose at UFC 139 in the form of a newly announced match-up between Martin Kampmann and Rick Story. Both fighters are coming off competitive losses and should be itching to get back in the cage to erase the bitter taste of defeat adding even more intrigue to a fight already having “Fight of the Night” potential written all over it.

The UFC unveiled the November 19 bout earlier today.

The 13-4 Story has yet to be finished in any of his seventeen total fights, a fact not lost on Kampmann who labeled his 26-year old adversary as a “a tough wrestler with a great chin” and expected the pairing to “make for a exciting fight” when asked about the bout by FiveOuncesofPain.com.

Kampmann is no slouch himself having never been submitted in his eight-year career and holding wins over Jorge Rivera, Paulo Thiago, and Carlos Condit. However, the well-rounded Dane is coming off consecutive losses though in fairness one was a Split Decision to former Strikeforce middleweight champ Jake Shields and the other a controversial outpointing to Diego Sanchez last March despite having left Sanchez’s face a swollen, bloody mess. He holds an overall record of 17-5 with thirteen stoppages to his credit.
