Matt Brown vs. John Hathaway added to UFC 138
Posted by Matthew Thompson
When the Octagon returns to England this November for UFC 138 one of their favorite sons will have a new opponent in place rather than the one he was originally scheduled to face at the event.
With Pascal Krauss out due to injury, John Hathaway will now take on three-year veteran of the UFC Matt Brown as part of the November 5 lineup in hopes of returning to the same form that had fans wondering if he might be on pace to match fellow Brit Michael Bisping’s success.
Brown is coming off a victory over John Howard at UFC Live 4 this past June and likely saved his job in the process after dropping three straight prior to the performance despite a trio of wins preceding the stretch. “The Immortal” possesses an overall record of 12-10 with eleven stoppages split between TKOs/submissions meaning Hathaway will be in a challenge regardless of where the fight’s action unfolds.
15-1 Hathaway bounced back from the first loss of his already-impressive young career at UFN 24 in March but only earned a Split Decision against Kris McCray. The 24-year old native of Brighton already holds wins over Rick Story and Diego Sanchez.
UFC 138 is set for Birmingham, England and is headlined by heavy-handed slugger Chris Leben taking on decorated wrestler Mark Munoz.
