Megadeath to perform: 7k - 8k Tickets already sold for Affliction

One of the most successful rock bands of all time has been booked to play at the Affliction:Banned show July 19th. Rumour is that they will play before the show begins and in between fights. Speculation was that Ozzy Osbourne would headline the musical act, but Affliction has confirmed that Megadeath will be rocking the Honda Center July 19th.

Affliction’s MMA Vice President Tom Atencio also announced that ticket sales were doing very well and are now into the 7,000 to 8,000 range. Considering this event is a month away and Affliction has done little TV and print promotion, they appear to be on their way to a successful live attendance at the 17,000 seat capacity home of the Anaheim Ducks. Combine this with the fact they are showing a portion of the preliminary bouts live on FSN, the PPV attendance should be strong.

Atencio feels the Ultimate Fight Night headlined by Anderson Silva’s first appearance at 205 lbs will have little effect on Affliction’s PPV buy rate that night. “As far as I’m concerned, people are going to Tivo (the UFC show) and watch our fight, and then go back to (watch UFC) later,” Atencio said. Only time will tell if he is right. Oh modern technology. How we love you.
