MMATraining.com & Kenny Florian To Host Podcast Countdown to UFC 101

florian-face1MMATraining.com is proud to announce that we will be conducting a series of podcasts with number 1 lightweight contender Kenny Florian leading up to his title fight with BJ Penn at UFC 101.

Kenny will be taking questions from you, the fans, on any topic you desire. Florian burst onto the MMA scene when he appeared on season 1 of The Ultimate Fighter where he lost in the finals to Diego Sanchez fighting 30 lbs heavier than his natural weight class.

You can submit a question now for our first episode by filling out this form.

Since that Season 1, Florian has gone 9-1 with wins over Joe Stevenson, Sam Stout, Roger Huerta and Joe Lauzon. His only loss in the last 4 years was a decision to future UFC champion Sean Sherk, which took place in 2006.

One of the most intelligent fighters in and out of the cage, Florian is the co host of MMA Live on ESPN and has color commentated for the UFC and WEC.

A graduate of Boston College where he excelled in the classroom and on the soccer pitch, the Boston native was a Big East Academic all star and appeared on the Dean’s list during his time at BC.

In 2008 Kenny along with his brother Keith opened up Florian Martial Arts Centre in Brookline, Mass which is just minutes outside of Boston.

One of the most well liked and affable fighters in all of the sport, Florian will be taking on BJ Penn at UFC 101 in one of the biggest lightweight fights in UFC history. The event will take place August 8th at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia. Penn is coming off a loss to welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and is looking to hang onto his belt. This card also features Anderson Silva moving up once again in weight to 205 to take on former champion Forrest Griffin.

This will be one of the biggest cards the UFC has ever put on and we’re excited to have Kenny taking your questions leading up to this historic first UFC in Philadelphia.

Who do you got? Wanderlei Silva or Franklin? Also, do you expect to utilize your elbows in the clinch against Penn? Obviously you have great stand up, which i think will be a factor in this fight. And i see Penn wanting to clinch and take it to the ground, where you then stun him with strikes inside the clinch and then finish him off on the ground with punches/elbows in the 2nd round (middle). Do you agree with that?

Kenny man your are an amazingly talented Fighter. I hope you destroy BJ Penn and I think if you have the right Game plan and stick to it you will surely come away with the victory. What will be the keys to your gameplan/victory and do you think his devestating loss to GSP will destroy his hopes or motivate him to come back harder then ever.

How do you feel about chuck Lidells Last Loss as far as his retirement, and can he evolve with the sport. He is one of the most exiting fighters to watch besides yourself, but it drives me nuts when his striking isn’t effective in a fight and he doesn’t go for submission or takedown. You da man K flow.
