Ronaldo Souza vs. Derek Brunson added to March Strikeforce card
Posted by Dan Becks
A bout that could shake up the Strikeforce middleweight division has been signed for Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey, as Derek Brunson will meet Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.
Brunson is an undefeated prospect in Strikeforce, as the ex-Division II wrestling All-American has gone 9-0 in his brief MMA career. The 28-year old is a perfect 3-0 since joining Strikeforce.
In Souza, Brunson will be facing his stiffest opponent to date as “Jacare” is a former Strikeforce middleweight champ and considered to be one of the best grapplers int he game. The last time Souza (14-3) competed he dropped the title to Luke Rockhold in a five-round decision.
The show takes place March 3 from Columbus, Ohio. The main event features Miesha Tate defending her women’s crown against Ronda Rousey. Brunson-Souza will likely be a part of the Showtime-televised main card.

MMATraining Take: I like how Zuffa is handling what seems to be the final run of Strikeforce events by booking solid cards from top to bottom. This card is quickly shaping up to be as deep as any UFC event minus a real headliner.
