The collection of fighters under Cesar Gracie’s tutelage is known for possessing some of the toughest individuals in MMA including champions both past and present. Now it looks like the team will welcome in another new bad-ass with a belt to boot in the form of Strikeforce bantamweight Ronda Rousey.
“I’m going up there from the 3rd to the 16th and it’s going to be the first time ever since I started doing MMA that I’m going to be training for an actual extended period of time away from my core camp, who I’ve always been with,” said Rousey in an interview with MMAWeekly Radio. “When I did judo I used to go around all the time, like every month or so I would go away for a week or two weeks to go train somewhere else. For some reason it’s something I never did in MMA, so they invited me to come train up there, and they’re good at a bunch of things that I need to work on so I’m super excited. It’s going to be the first time I’m training away from home in a long time.”
The unbeaten 25-year old also added she hopes training with the group of Graciefighters will become a familiar stop as she prepares for all of her future fights, showing both appreciation for the team’s work ethic as well as knowledge in areas she feels she needs to grow in.
Though not official, it is more than likely Rousey’s next fight will come this summer against former title-holder Sarah Kaufman.

MMATraining Take: Is it me or does Rousey seem like a perfect fit for Gracie’s gym? She’s driven, a gifted technician, vicious, and possesses a “death stare” not unlike that you might see from one of the Diaz’s.
