Sherk looking for Penn and Sanchez after Edgar
Posted by Manuel Martinez AngelesAfter losing the UFC lightweight title last May to BJ Penn, Sean Sherk has made it his goal to get back to a title shot. At UFC 98 he will face Frankie Edgar as he climbs one step further back to his belt. MMATraining.com caught up with Sherk at UFC 96 to discuss Penn vs. Florian, a rematch with Penn and who else he would like to fight at 155.
Having fought both BJ Penn and Kenny Florian, Sherk has firsthand knowledge of both fighters. Who he sees coming out on top is clear.
“I have to go with BJ on that one. I’ve fought both those guys and I think BJ has pretty much every advantage in that fight. I think he will walk away with that one and hopefully I get a shot at him next.”
Sherk wants the title back and thinks he is next in line. But he wouldn’t mind a match up with a recent addition to 155, Diego Sanchez.
“I think so (next up for a title shot). I think Diego Sanchez is out there now and maybe me and Diego could square off after his next fight and I want to get a shot at BJ this year, but I don’t want to look too far ahead because Frankie Edgar is very very tough”

This guy gets a lot of flak, but he seems like a cool dude.

I think Diego would out work Sherk on the feet and take a decision. Sherk is tough guy to put down and Diego sure wouldn’t be able to.

How can you actually think Diego would beat Sherk? Sherk is a monster and in over 30 fights his only 3 losses have come from Matt Hughes, GSP, and BJ Penn, 3 of the best fighters in mma. Secondly I would not argue Diego was good when he was at welterweight, but in his fight against joe daddy he looked terrible, if that would have been sherk, he would have been done. Lets see how Diego does in his next fight then we’ll see.
