It has been reported that Jesse Taylor will in fact get another crack at the UFC, as he is scheduled to take on CB Dolloway on the Free Spike TV card July 19th. You may remember Taylor as the fighter who got drunk and terrorized a Las Vegas hotel and was not allowed to compete in the finals against Amir Sadollah. Interesting to note, that if Dolloway is beaten again, that will run his record to 0-3 in his last 3.
MMAweekly is reportingthat Diego Sanchez will take on Thiago Alves at UFC 89 in England. This should be a very very exciting match up. After Alves defeated Matt Hughes in June of this year, there was talk he would get the next title shot. I had thought this was premature for the young Alves, but if he can get by Sanchez, he’s a deserved challenger.
Dave Meltzer is reporting that UFC 89 featuring Chris Leben vs. Michael Bisping will air FREE on Spike TV on tape delay October 18th. This should be a good fight, but many are criticizing it’s place in the main event. In my opinion, if the card has Sanchez vs. Alves, Bisping-Leben and one more solid fight, the card will be solid. And free so no complaints here.
The web is buzzing about the fact that UFC 86 has very little buzz despite having a significant championship bout. Part of me wants to say this is because the card lacks overall star power, but the other part wants to say that people are assuming Rampage will run through Griffin with ease. I beg to differ and I’m calling a Griffin decision victory.
