Technique of the Day: Guillotine Choke with Shinya Aoki
Posted by MMATraining.com Staff
One of the true submission specialists in MMA is none other than Shinya Aoki, a decorated lightweight whose BJJ mastery has helped earn him nineteen submissions in thirty total victories. Aoki’s last appearance came on New Year’s Eve where he outpointed Satoru Kitaoka in a relatively one-sided five-round fight. However, Aoki came out after the win to say he wasn’t pleased with his performance, especially after racking up three straight submissions entering the bout, and planned to hit the mats extra hard as a result.
In this MMATraining Technique of the Day, viewers can observe Aoki going back to basics with a focus on the standard Guillotine Choke. Though his instructions may be in Japanese the positioning/application of the hold cut across any language barrier.
