ProElite: Big Guns featured much-needed victories by former UFC fighters Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski as well as the emergence of a few heavyweight prospects and a second loss for a Penn in as many weeks.
Sylvia scored a decision victory over Andreas Kraniotakes, while Arlovski delivered a head-kick knockout on Travis Fulton in the third round with just a second remaining in the fight.
“The Maine-iac”, who was expected to meet Pedro Rizzo before Rizzo was forced out due to an injury, is now 6-3 since leaving the UFC in 2008. The former heavyweight champion used his height and weight advantage to hold Kraniotakes against the fence for the majority of the contest.
Arlovski was taking the same approach as Sylvia, using his experience to keep Fulton at bay before connecting with the head-kick in the third.
Reagan Penn, the younger brother of former UFC champion B.J. Penn, was defeated via decision against Evan Cutts, dropping his record to 1-1 as a professional.
ProElite is returning to the fight game. This was the second card put on by the promotion, with the first coming earlier this year in Hawaii.
