The fourth episode of The Ultimate Fighter 15 featured Myles Jury and Al Iaquinta doing battle. Jury was the third pick from Team Cruz, which currently owned a perfect 2-0 record prior to last night’s episode, with Dominick Cruz, the UFC’s bantamweight champ, controlling the season so far to date. Standing opposite Jury was Iaquinta, the top selection of Urijah Faber who trains out of Matt Serra‘s camp.
Things started off with a quick recap of Justin Lawrence‘s victory for Team Cruz last week over Cristiano Marcello. Lawrence shows us the joy of victory, while Marcello languishes in the agony of defeat.
During a training session of for Team Cruz, Jury dropped Mike Rio and Rio suffered what looked to be a twisted knee. Fortunately he said he’ll be able to fight through the pain, with Jury relating to the situation later after a knee injury knocked him out of TUF 13.
Come fight-time, Iaquinta, who was set to compete on TUF 12 before a broken hand ended his hopes, took control of the action early on, using his power to push Jury around. However, Jury got the better of a few scuffles, and even recorded a couple of takedowns in the opening round.
In the second, Iaquinta fought through a powerful strike by Jury to connect with one of his own to the chin of his opponent. At that point, Jury’s cardio seemed to be out the window, as Iaquinta continued to push the pace. After a long delay, a third and final “sudden victory” round is announced.
Neither fighter seemed to want to make a mistake in the final frame though Iaquinta used the first few minutes to control Jury. With just ten seconds left in the round, viewers are treated to a photo-finish as the two lightweights stand toe-to-toe and bang it out.
After scores are tallied it’s announced that Iaquinta will move on, earning a Split Decision victory. The win gets Team Faber on the board. Next week, Michael Chisea of Team Faber will meet Jeremy Larsen from Team Cruz.

MMA Training Take: Jury had the chance to claim the victory in the third, but he couldn’t do much against Iaquinta. This match up seemed to be a great choice for fireworks, but with the high prospects of both fighters, it seemed neither wanted to make a mistake. So, we were treated to more of a calculated match by both men. Expect plenty of excitement, however, when Iaquinta steps back in the Octagon later this season.
