Now that the dust has settled on UFC 100, it’s time to look back at one of the biggest weekends in Mixed Martial Arts history. We saw tens of thousands of fans pack the Mandalay Bay Convention Center for the first UFC fan Expo. We witnessed Georges St. Pierre continue to dominate his weight class, and we watched as Brock Lesnar dominated Frank Mir and followed it up by embarrassing not only himself, but the UFC. The loudest cheers of the event went to Dan Henderson as he put away Micheal Bisping with one of the biggest right hands in years.
MMATraining.com was in attendance all weekend long and we were blown away by the support that this event received. We met so many fans that fly out to Vegas with only the slight hope that maybe they could find some $2,000 tickets and take in the fan expo. Most were out of luck on the tickets, but said the Expo was well worth it.
We were fortunate enough to train at Xtreme Couture with boxing coach Gil Martinez and UFC lightweight stand out Gray Maynard. It was exhausting to say the least and each time we get to train with a pro we have an elevated level of respect for what these guys go through. Thanks to both of them for their time.
The actual event was unbelievable. A stacked card brought us some of the best fights we’ve seen in a long time on the under card and Pay Per View telecast. The fans in attendance got their moneys worth no matter how much they paid for a ticket.
We want to once again thank Shawn Tompkins and Xtreme Couture for hooking us up with access to their gym. Thanks to Sam Stout, Gray Maynard and Chris Horodecki for coming out to the Crash MMA Dinner on Friday.
The UFC proved this weekend that with each passing day their popularity is increasing and that the sport is in good hands. We were glad we were able to be apart of this historical moment in time. Now get ready for the next 100. This thing isn’t slowing down.
