Frank Edgar, Jose Aldo escape Houston with titles in tow

The UFC was back in Houston for the second time in history and, similarly to the epic upset in a title-fight the last time the Octagon rolled through town (Georges St. Pierre vs. Matt Serra), fans were in for a treat with a pair of championship clashes at the top of tonight’s UFC 136 card.

Headlined by Frank Edgar successfully defending his strap against top 155-pound contender Gray Maynard for the second consecutive time based on a January draw between the two, and also featuring Brazilian bomber Jose Aldo putting his gold on the line against longtime veteran Kenny Florian, the show was spectacular and had a number of “Fight of the Night” contenders.

Undercard bouts also included Chael Sonnen vs. Brian Stann, Melvin Guillard vs. Joe Lauzon, and Anthony Pettis vs. Jeremy Stephens.
