Hacran Dias trains with current UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo as part of the Nova Uniao team in Brazil. Now, the 20-1-1 Dias will have the opportunity to possibly work his way into a match with Aldo, signing a three-fight contract with the UFC over the weekend.
Dias, who is on an eight-fight winning streak, announced his signing on Sensei SporTV.
“Today is the happiest day of my life,” Dias said. “Dede (Pederneiras) has been working on this for a long time, trying to get me in there, and today he came up with the contract. When he handed it to me, I couldn’t believe it; everyone cheered for me. I’m very happy with everything that’s happening to me.”
Dias joins teammates Aldo, Renan Barao, Johnny Eduardo, and Luis Ramos on the Zuffa roster. He is also Aldo’s main sparring partner in the camp.

MMATraining Take: The more contenders the UFC adds to the featherweight division, the better it will be. Currently Aldo is without an opponent, so it will be interesting to see who they place against him. In Dias, the more contenders there are, the more Aldo will have to remain on top of his game even though it seems unlikely the two longtime training partners would face off.
