Though no official date is set it looks like a specific timeframe has been assigned to the upcoming light heavyweight title-fight between 205-pound king Jon Jones and seasoned veteran Dan Henderson. UFC President Dana White addressed the matter on Thursday during a press conference to promote tomorrow night’s UFC on FOX 3 event, saying the organization was looking at having the two fight each other in September with the possibility of a Labor Day Weekend show.
Labor Day is September 3 this year meaning an actual card that weekend would take place on September 1. The UFC does not currently have anything scheduled on that day with UFC 150 on August 11 and a trip to Toronto lined up for September 22.
The 29-8 Henderson is one of the few remaining threats for Jones with knockout power, solid wrestling, and more than a decade of experience under his belt. He was last seen outpointing Mauricio Rua in an instant-classic at UFC 139.

MMATraining Take: Whenever the fight takes place it will be incredible! That being said, I could actually see the UFC holding off until Toronto since that would be a perfect main event for a card in Canada. However, it would be a shame to make Jones and “Hendo” wait that long to fight. Even September in general is too far away considering when each last took to the cage.
