Junior dos Santos crowned new UFC champion after opening round win

Were there ever any doubt the UFC is a fan-friendly organization, tonight’s landmark event on FOX should erase it in full given the headlining bout featuring heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez putting his belt up for grabs against heavy-handed Brazilian Junior dos Santos.
Better yet, a match-up worth paying the price of a PPV for was offered up for free on network television, fulfilling a dream for both fans and UFC executives in the process.
After a well-placed shot in the opening round Dos Santos pounded his way to victory, becoming the new UFC heavyweight champ in the process. The loss was the first of Velasquez’s career.
