One of the most exciting heavyweights to emerge in the last year or two has been Travis Browne, a 29-year old out of Jackson’s MMA who holds a 13-0-1 record with the lone blemish involving a Draw against Cheick Kongo. Browne has finished eleven of the opponents he’s beaten including Stefan Struve and most recently Chad Griggs.
Based on his recent success Browne will attempt to show he belongs in the upper-echelon of the division by passing another stout test, this time in the form of Ben Rothwell. Their bout will take place at UFC on FOX 4 on August 4 in Los Angeles.
The 32-8 Rothwell is coming off an impressive showing of his own, winning Knockout of the Night at UFC 145 by flattening Brendan Schaub. Interestingly enough, Browne’s finish of Griggs was the show’s Submission of the Night. Back to “Big” Ben, Rothwell also holds past wins of Krzysztof Soszynski, Ricco Rodriguez, and Roy Nelson.

MMATraining Take: These two sluggers should put on a solid show. I see Browne’s athleticism/speed overcoming Rothwell who can dish out some decent damage but typically takes too many hits.
