Vitor Belfort brings in Georges St. Pierre to prepare for Anthony Johnson at UFC 142

Vitor Belfort has a very important stretch coming up, as “The Phenom” is set to compete in his native country of Brazil this Saturday night at UFC 142: Aldo vs. Mendes in the co-main event. As most fans know, Belfort’s opponent will be Anthony Johnson, a former welterweight who is making the move to middleweight.
For a recent episode of Belfort’s Road to UFC 142 series the popular Brazilian brought in UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre prior to GSP going down with a knee injury in December.
“He’s a great friend, a great champion, and he’s a good guy,” Belfort said. “We are just going to help each other. That’s the key, to get better, you train with champions. It is an honor to train with him.”
A former UFC champion and #1 contender to the middleweight strap, Belfort has been documenting his training in preparation for the Johnson fight. Following this weekend, Belfort will then begin coaching on the first international season of TUF Brasil against Wanderlei Silva.

MMATraining Take: In bringing in fighters like GSP and Nate Marquardt, Belfort is proving that he wants to get back to being considered one of the best in the sport. If he can take care of Johnson, and finish off Silva following TUF, Belfort will likely be right back in title contention.
