Vitor Belfort provides revealing look at preparation for UFC 142 bout
Posted by Joe Rice
When former UFC champion Vitor Belfort steps into the Octagon he is one of the most feared competitors in the sport. An accomplished grappler with heavy hands, “The Phenom” has been knocking opponents out for more than a decade including some of the top names in MMA. However, like many fighters, Belfort is also a caring, compassionate human being outside of the cage.
Both points come across in his latest Road to UFC 142 entry, a video series documenting his training for a January 14 throwdown against powerful wrestler Anthony Johnson, where Belfort spends time training alongside his son as well as discussing the dream that’s come true in terms of the UFC’s presence in Brazil.
In addition to featuring Belfort-Johnson, UFC 142 is headlined by Jose Aldo defending his featherweight title against undefeated takedown-machine Chad Mendes.

MMATraining Take: Belfort is one of MMA’s most intriguing cases. He walks the line between being violent and a pacifist better than most, being fueled by strong religious beliefs and a talent for taking opponents out. An excellent video by the way.
