Josh Koscheck likes nothing more than a personal fight. In Jake Ellenberger, he is likely to get that. Both have signed on to face off in an intriguing welterweight contest at UFC 151. The card takes place September 1 from Las Vegas.
Both Koscheck and Ellenberger are coming off defeats, and with the division being as tightly-contested right now as any, a second-straight loss will significantly damage either fighter’s hopes of earning an eventual title-shot.
Koscheck (17-6) was looking like his old self after wins over Mike Pierce and Matt Hughes, but a decision defeat to Johny Hendricks knocked him back again. “Kos” returned after several months off due to an eye injury suffered in a loss to Georges St-Pierre for the UFC welterweight title.
Ellenberger (27-6) entered a meeting with Martin Kampmann on a six-fight winning streak and seemed poised to make it seven after the first round. Kampmann, however, stormed back and delivered a bone-crunching knee to secure the win.

MMATraining Take: While Kampmann and Hendricks are expected to meet in a No. 1 contender match, this Koscheck-Ellenberger contest should provide fireworks. Both men love to throw bombs, and with each being sound wrestlers, we should be in for a stand-up affair.
