Wilson Gouveia didn’t need the extra two rounds Friday night at MFC 32: Bitter Rivals as the ex-UFC fighter took care of Dwayne Lewis without much of a struggle in doing so.
Gouveia hounded Lewis in the main event of the card from the Mayfield Inn Trade and Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, stopping him with 3:19 left in the second round. Gouveia snapped a three-fight losing skid with the win.
In the co-main event, Antonio McKee claimed a decision victory over Brian Cobb in what is going to be his final fight for the MFC. McKee was stripped of his title and told he would be released after weighing in seven pounds over the limit. Cobb, who also came in over-weight, was informed he would be released with a loss, but it remains to be seen what the MFC does in terms of his future contract.
In other action, Ryan McGillivray and Nathan Coy set themselves up for a fight later this year for the MFC welterweight title by winning their respective fights.

MMATraining Take: McKee has said retirement is in his future, so that is likely to be the road he takes. If so, it ends a long and illustrious career for him. Gouveia needed a strong showing to prove his relevance in MMA, and that’s just what he got.
