The injury bug has bitten the UFC’s roster once again though, depending on who you ask, it may have done fans a favor considering the newly-named tilt. According to the UFC, Luiz Cane went down while training for a bout at UFC 150 against Yushin Okami (26-7) and was forced to withdraw. Stepping into his place will be Rousimar Palhares (14-4), a brilliant BJJ practitioner known for finishing foes with an arsenal of powerful leg attacks.
Palhares and Okami are both coming off losing performances but own past wins against a number of notable opponents including Dan Miller, Jeremy Horn, Nate Marquardt, and Mark Munoz. Adding a bit of intrigue into their pairing, Palhares has tapped out ten of the opponents he’s beaten while Okami has never actually been stopped by way of submission.
UFC 150 is scheduled for August 11 in Denver, Colorado. The card features a main event between lightweight champion Benson Henderson and former title-holder Frankie Edgar. Additionally, a match-up between Justin Lawrence-Max Holloway was also added to the event’s lineup.

MMATraining Take: This is an interesting fight for a number of reasons including the fact Okami is six inches taller than Palhares. Regardless, it’s a good match-up and one I’d rather see than Okami-Cane.
