Entry Three

Friday, August 29

Morning

Coach Nick from Toronto came down to London to train us today, which was nice since I got to sleep in an extra hour and not have to drive 2 hours to training. It was an intense practice since myself, Chris Horodecki, and Sam Stout were all training and all have upcoming fights. We started off with 30 minutes of conditioning followed by drilling of clich takedowns and setups. After the drilling we went straight into round robin matches of 4 minutes with the winner staying in. I felt very strong and was pushed by all my teamates. After practice we did more condtioning and stretching since the upper body work of Greco is grueling.

Afternoon

As a team, we all went for an 8km run followed by interval sprints. I feel it is important to finish strong in runs just like a fight were you may need to finish strong to finish your opponent or impress the judges at the last minute and need the strength and conditioning to do so.

Saturday, August 30

Saturday we normally only train once because the body needs a rest after the long week of training. This week was focused a lot on wrestling and sparring so today was focused on conditioning and striking. We started out with 4 X 5 mins of caveman conditioning rounds with 1 minute intervals and 30 second rest at the end of the round. Our stations were sledgehammers, tire flips with a 350lbs tire, step ups, core twists with a 25lbs plate and box jumps of 3 feet. After the conditioning rounds we did bag work of 5 X 5 min rounds with the punching bag, Thai Bag and Ground and Pound dummy. As I mentioned in previous days, all of Team Tompkins guys such as myself, Chris and Sam Stout all have fights around the same time, so it is nice to have all the top guys training at peak levels together, which pushes everyone
