Entry Five

Wednesday, September 3

Morning

I woke up this morning and had a huge golf ball sized goose egg on my elbow from sparring the night before, so today my training had to be altered to avoid contact to the elbow. I began with the Bas CD for 7 rounds of shadow boxing to help with reaction time and overall timing, which I have felt has been off this week. I was happy with my intensity and conditioning throughout the rounds. After the shadow boxing I completed the plyo workout that we follow at Xtreme Couture Las Vegas that was created by Randy's conditioning coach, which involves a lot of jumping and explosive movements. My legs are beginning to feel stronger and reacting better to the program. Some of the exercises are jump squats, box jumps, cable shots, medicine ball twists and medicine ball push ups.

Evening

This evening again was focused around not making any contact to my elbow since I knew that tomorrow would be focused around lots of wrestling and contact sparring. I began with ten minutes of skipping followed by 3 X 5 mins of shadow boxing. After the shadow boxing I did heavy bag drills for 6X5min rounds switching between heavy bag, Thai Bag and ground and pound. I felt strong throughout and I am eager to get back in the gym.
