Head instructor Dave Moylan was living the white collar lifestyle as a chartered accountant in Canada's technology triangle when he decided to pack in his calculator and follow his true passion Kung Fu. Today Waterloo Kung-Fu Academy is one of the largest and well respected Kung Fu facilities in southwestern Ontario.

History

The Waterloo Kung-Fu Academy is located in Waterloo, Ontario. The Academy has been teaching the art of kung-fu to both children and adults for more than 20 years. While the focus is not on instructing MMA, as the Academy's focus is solely traditional kung-fu, classes are taught with fitness and discipline as a priority, giving students the foundations necessary to succeed in an MMA environment.

Respect, Discipline and Spirit are the core values emphasized at the school, which provide students with the motivation and environment to excel.

The highly structured traditional kung-fu curriculum is taught with a focus on strength, stamina, flexibility and self-discipline. The style of Five Animal Shaolin Kung-Fu is taught primarily as a striking art, with an emphasis on proper body awareness and strong stances.

The full-time kung-fu schedule is flexible for both adults and children, as classes are structured to be age specific and skill specific.

Classes offered

Kung-Fu is taught seven days a week with adult, youth and junior kung-fu classes per week, including noon hour classes, which vary based on skill level.

Facilities

The conveniently located school boasts a 5000 square foot facility that features a large training floor and a weight room. The school is well out-fitted with four heavy bags, a speed bag, double-end bag and equipment including focus mitts, muay thai pads, and kick shields.

Staffing, Schedule and Pricing

All classes are taught by qualified black sash instructors, with a minimum of ten years experience in the kung-fu style taught and are also supported by a strong complement of assistant instructors and leadership team members. Private classes are available by request.

All programs are either taught or supervised by the head instructor, David Moylan. David has over 17 years of experience in this kung-fu style, as well as a background in kickboxing.

Adult - 6 week trial $119 + GST

Family - First family member (an adult, if applicable) pays full amount; second receives a 15% discount; additional members receive a 25% discount.
