Last night the UFC introduced the MMA world to sixteen new Ultimate Fighter contestants after the lot emerged victorious in their bouts at the TUF 15 debut. Most of the victories came in the first few minutes of action, an outcome partially inspired by the unique format for the fights featuring a single five-minute frame as well as a $5,000 bonus for scoring a stoppage.

While the evening did involve some mild controversy surrounding single-round scoring, for the most part the winners were clear-cut and impressed throughout. The men who came away with a hand raised to earn a spot in the Ultimate Fighter house were: Joe Proctor, Cristiano Marcello, Sam Sicilia, Chris Tickle, Andy Ogle, Vinc Pichel, John Cofer, Chris Saunders, James Vick, Michael Chiesa, Mike Rio, Justin Lawrence, Daron Cruickshank, Jeremy Larsen, Al Iaquinta, and Myles Jury.

Here is a complete list of results:

Joe Proctor def. Jordan Rinaldi via Submission (Guillotine Choke)
Cristiano Marcello def. Jared Carlsten via Submission (Rear-Naked Choke)
Sam Sicilia def. Erin Beach via Knockout (Strikes)
Chris Tickle def. Austin Lyons via Knockout (Strikes)

MMATraining Take: I enjoyed the broadcast even if it seemed amateurish at times. It was a bold undertaking by the UFC and I expected a few bumps. However, in general the fighters were impressive and it was a nice taste of what’s to come. The fighters who stood out the most to me were Marcello, Rio, and Lawrence. Regardless, it should be a good season full of competitive clashes.
