Bellator Fighting Championships will be the new home for Paul Daley, as the British fighter has signed a new fight contract with them. Daley asked for his release from Strikeforce last week and was obliged after expressing disappointment in the number of times he was able to fight under the company’s banner.

“Semtex” holds a career record of 29-12-2. He will make his debut at Bellator 72 on July 20.

“I’ve been a fan of Bellator for a long while,” said Daley in a press release issued to media. “When this chance came up, I was absolutely ready to make a long-term commitment to Bellator.”

In his last appearance with Strikeforce Daley was defeated via Split Decision by Kazuo Misaki. Over his career, Daley has defeated the likes of Martin Kampmann, Jorge Masvidal and Duane Ludwig.

MMATraining Take: I absolutely LOVE this signing! Bellator has a number of interesting match-ups for Daley like Ben Saunders and Karl Amoussou where fireworks are essentially guaranteed. However, I don’t think he has more than a puncher’s chance against champ Ben Askren considering Daley’s problems in the past with grapplers.
